In this example we will demonstrate how to perform a blind and attended (consultative) transfer using a Yealink. We will assume that an incoming call will be received on the Yealink phone which is registered to Extension 114.
Note: A Blind Transfer is a transfer to another extension without actually initiating a call to the end destination. The call is blindly transferred to the destination.
By comparison, an attended transfer is a transfer where before actually transferring to the destination, the call is put on hold and another call is initiated to confirm whether the end destination actually wants to take the call or not. These two calls are then merged together.
Blind transfer method
Step 1: An incoming call received from Extension 116.
Press the Answer Button to answer the call.
Step 2: Transfer the call.
Press the transfer button (Tran) to start the blind transfer procedure. At this point, Extension 116 should start hearing music on hold.
Step 3: Enter destination.
Enter the destination you would like to transfer the call to.
Step 4: Transferring the call.
Once you have entered the extension number, press the Transfer button.
Step 5: Successfully transferring the call.
The Yealink is now blindly transferring the call from 116 to 118. Once the destination (118) answers the call, the Yealink will show the usual idle screen and extension 116 and 118 will be connected together.
Step 1: An incoming call is received from Extension 116.
Press the Answer Button to answer the call.
Step 2: Transfer the call.
Press the transfer button (Trnsfer) to start the attended transfer procedure. At this point the caller is put on hold.
Step 3: Enter destination.
Enter the extension number of the user you would like to transfer the call to. Once you have entered, press the Ok button.
Step 4: Transferring the call to destination.
We will assume that the end destination (extension 118) has answered the call and also has agreed to take the original call.
Press the Transfer (Tran) button to merge both calls together – The original caller (116) will stop hearing music on hold and will be connected to extension 118.
Congratulations: You now know how to perform an attended (consultative) transfer and a Blind transfer using a Yealink IP phone.
